Making of a silk dress with a wing painted on it.
With dye in color blue black.
Realistic feathers placed unrealistically.
A long story told as is.
By artist/escapist Yuko Nagai, currently Miss Sore Thumb in a rural Japanese town
who rambles about random stuff as well.

Thank you.

Belated "Thank you!!" to those of you who voted for my video. And those who sent me very encouraging notes. Please know you have my wholehearted appreciation.
yuko ;^)

one of the videos i created to
record the making process of a dyed dress,
has been entered for competition at

filmo II video festival in spain

much to my surprise
the voting is open to the public
so guess what, that's right, i am
asking you if you may, to head there and
vote for my process video!!

it's a really pretty video with lots of footage shot in the sea
super cool music and a little goofy me playing with fabrics
i've embedded the video on my recent post here

you can get to the festival's voting page from here

my video is somewhere in the middle, titled:
"wing dress in the making, july 22, 2010"

click "vota" and comes a pop-up window

for non-spanish speakers like myself....
a line below my name "yuko nagai" says (according to babel fish):
"please it introduces your direction email to confirm your vote..."

enter your e-mail there and they'll send you a confirmation mail

voting is open 'til the 23rd of this month

mucho gracias in advance

some stills from the video
...pretty, aren't they?

thank you for your visit!!

October 17, 2010 what's up, process lady???

hello there...

thank you for all of you visitors
sparing a few minutes of your
most probably busy day
your visit is much appreciated

now comes a seasonal small talk

over here in the north end of central japan
when you find this, that means
the summer's really really over

and what is that, you may ask
is that a cicada getting caught takin' a nap?

yes, except that's an eternal nap he's taking...

.....beautiful, isn't he?

now, on my previous post i've spoken of
a beautiful insect from the beauty reservoir
and a new blog i started with great enthusiasm
followed by an additional note about an "assessment break" blog or not to blog

this is a while later, a decision made
since i am getting practically flooded
with dye work ideas, and
there are so many talented people
already sharing the beauty of the world via their sites,

i decided to take a break from blogging
(after this process comes to an end of course)
and concentrate on my dye works

for this one i am growing much fond of

sound files

which is simply a collection of mp3 files
recorded with my iphone

this is a result of my experiment on living "ear-heavy"
it has been a very trippy business when i
shift my sensory focus heavily onto my ears

in any case
i hope you'll enjoy
