they caught me off guard
the first time i listened to the first note off their first album in '90
(who opened the flood gate?)
the kind of moment not so easily forgotten
abrasive noises and harmonies almost discordant at times
surrounded me like whirlwind but
strangely, there existed a sense of silence
like a still point in dead center
that comes, perhaps, from introspection so intense
your heart froze still
naked display of hopelessness could bring out a sense of hope
when done with no-holds-barred abundance as theirs,
could renew your zest and zeal
(....you can do anything in creativity....)
these guys went pretty far with it but
their genius is that they remained accessible
hopeless is good when it's real, and in the face of such "real",
itty bitty prim proper polarization of negative versus positive means
absolutely
nothing
but
you can't stay there
(heck, can't stay anywhere for that matter)
can't continue to replicate and retain the same emotional output
harsh world of monetizing your creativity...

almost too real to handle, with the singer visibly deteriorated but not dispirited
from their 1996 "unplugged" appearance
despite the loss of the singer in '02, the band managed to carry on
their new material is expected in summer '09

how was your 2008?
(not that i think you need to hear me say it but)
year '08 is coming to an end
my wish for you is that
this past year has been fruitful
in whichever the way you've desired it to be
mine?
oh yes, it's been
quite an adventure, can't ask for more
sharing some of the discoveries and encounters here
has been a delight, too
thank you for those of you who had
taken your precious time to
read my babblings
happy holidays!
