visiting heavens in tokyo

if you think there's only one heaven
and it is located "up there"

think again

because today i am going to take you to
several crafter's heavens found in tokyo town

firstly,the zipper heaven

the store is called okadaya in shinjuku
i snook and shot these photos
wanting to share with the world the
bright side of life in japan

zipper pullers in chrome

the kind i favor

ykk flat knit

perfick for silkies
see how soft and spineless it is

and so many colors to choose from

tweaky little people we are

now i am moving on to
tokyo's garment district, nippori

there i found the
leather heaven

...perfect summer getaway...

the thing that looks very tin-foily
that's gold foil pressed onto leather

may not be suitable for warmer climate but
what do i know

the surface is so metalic it's
reflecting my pink outfit

tie-dyed leather displayed next to
camelia-floral dyed with japanese lacquer

spatter pattern in chrome-like silver
again, reflecting my pink top

and the basics: variety of black leather materials

i was particularly impressed by the
super gloss enamel that is also
super light

the store is called
and leather

last but not least
the studs heaven

(no photos of the store - i forgot)

the kind that goes on your jacket, that is

now, look closely
these parts are in...

the color matte black !!!

the coloring process of the said matte is patented
and selling of these monopolized by

the store called "san-shi-mai"
three sisters in japanese

behind great metal parts are
three sisters at work...just guessing

location: nippori
no website but no worries, they are
easy to find, only handful of leather craft stores in the area

that's about it
thanks for your visit!

August 1, 2008

it's that time of the year

time to take photos in the swimming pool near-by,
that is

been doing this since 1999 or so
still trying to get new visions from the
same old 18x50 meters

the view of the same old

one from the first 2008 batch
taken just a few hours ago

some of the other pics i've taken over the years are
upped on my portfolio page (additional note: i made a video too!)
please visit if yu gotta chance, i really like what i did

in fact
i like them so much i almost want to stay there
in a pool, with a camera...
shake me upside down (don't!), if i begin to
typecast myself
