holiday wishes and a disappearance notice
i have 2 apple computers
(double mac!!)
one of them, the main man i call,
has been sounding funny---like
someone's drilling a hole inside its hd
a....construction?
or...
the desturction!
eitherway
even this cave woman knows
that's not how it's supposed to be, so
my main man is going to a clinic soon
during such time i will
dissapear from the web space a while
since anything could happen to the mm at this point,
i wanted to send out holiday greetings to you all
wishing your holidays be filled with what you fancy the most
(((big warm smiles)))

collar me gently: leather collar making process
since most of my projects take forever to complete
i decided to make a "gratification" piece,
something easy, fun and quick
the piece of my choice is:
a leather collar!
below:
an initial piece
(((embarrassed grin)))
half way into makin it i said,
nahhhh

so i re-started
cutting up an used leather belt i found at
a thrift store, houston, texas

making some holes for
decorative leather strings
uneven placement of holes
resulted from mind goin elsewhere....

trying out several ways for the
decorative strings

i decided to use buttons, not studs
to give it a "softer" look to the collar
then came the decision time......

loops for the buttons
at first i made leather loops very tight
then i remembered a scene from
dario argento film, "deep red" (1975)
more precisely,
the last scene from the film
that i have NEVER seen although i've watched the film
more than few times
but i know exactly what happens...
i ain't gonna tell you though...

so, i opted for a
"quick release" method
ie. yank it hard and loops will loosen
like this.....

decorative strings attached
i said,
no not this decorative

so as to straighten them up a bit,
i first moistened them lightly....

then hang them with some weights

time to add some finishing touch...
i'm going to color sections like these

the black polish gives glossy look
so i paid an extra attention to keep the application minimum,
since the belt has a nice "weathered" look to it

don't forget these places....

below:
completed piece
i am wearing this in my
google profile picture as well

these buttons are from
junior highschool (boys') overcoat from
pre-ww2 japan
chosen these to give the collar a subtle edge
the kind not as obvious as
pointy metal studs

"stenciled military jacket " photo shoot!!
in my past post
"making of brian jones tee"
i introduced a military jacket that was
hand painted using a stencil that was
originally for the brian jones tee
as i promised then,
i've taken much better photos of the jacket
using my new camera!!!!!
so here
on back ground you see,
a drawing of a wing for
the wing dress project,
in progress
ever
so
slowly.....

so my new camera
it's
canon powershot a570 is
ranked high on cost performance
allows the full manual setting
y...e....s!!
during the research i realized, that,
i live in camera heaven, too many choices outthere...so
i typed in on search window
the "must" items such as:
manual setting
water proof case
(that's it?)
water housing for this model is sold separately
but i am comforted by the knowledge because,
i once was a foolhardy ho (no not a ho)
the misadventure is documented here
much more photo documentations
on their way

detailed and in a groove?
i can get very detail-oriented
so much so that i could lose
my perspective easily as i'd
zoom zoom zoom in
and i fought
against it
for some time
because
i kn o w
pe r f e c t i n g
t h e c r a f t
co ul d
ki ll
t he
mom ent u m
here, the 2 drawings i did in 1994
and were given away
i remember i at one point
was drawing with a hair of a brush
the one hair sticking out at the tip
and even i thought it was too much

me-to-me critique:
the dog portrait, if it's me now, i'd
fill out the backgound with
one color-to simplify a bit
in 1994, i discovered paint brushes
didn't care to bother with them until then
so these are really the
portrait of my over-enthsiasm
as for being detail-oriented,
after trying to get over it by
overly being sloppy
and producing stuff that resembled
a pseudo children's drawing done by an adult
i gave up fighting
but decided to
keep
some
balance
to remain detailed but
in the groove, riding it
